We saw Kaitlyn's surgeon today at Glenbrook Hospital. He was very pleased with her recovery so far!!! He said that the skin that is dark in color will sloth off like a sunburn and pink skin will be underneath and it will eventually turn to a hopefully "normal" skin tone within a year. The dark skin should come off within this next week. Once that comes off we will be able to let her sleep alone...thankfully!!! Cam and I are not getting any sleep with her in bed with us. We have to keep her sleeping on her back so she doesnt rub the new skin on her pillow. And with her being a tummy sleeper we have to keep holding her arms all night so she doesnt flip over. Plus we have to nap with her as well. She is only wearing the arm stints at nap and bedtime. As for the steri-strips, we can take them off once they start to peel away or wait til they fall off. Their are stitches underneath. We are anxious to see what that area looks like from where they took the skin in front of her ear. She has been so good and doesnt really complain. The main concern right now is the sun. So I ordered a really good sun hat online at a store that will keep all of the sun rays out. She is very conscious of her "boo-boos" and tells you to be careful of them when you get her dressed or are wiping her face. We go back and see her surgeon a week from tomorrow for another post-op appt. We will let you know how things are going then!
Here are the kids today in their I Love Mommy and I Love Daddy shirts. The stairs are the only place they will sit still for a picture as you can tell.....we take most of our pics there:)
