Round 2

Wouldn't you know...Colin caught the nasty virus that we had hoped he would escape getting. Wednesday morning at 5am Colin came in our room crying and yelling that he had thrown up in his bed and on the floor. The poor kid had a 101.5 fever and was so worried that he would need to go to the hospital and get an "IB" like his sister did. He continued with the vomiting and diarrhea all day. We were back in that place where as a parent you are trying to figure out if your child needs to head to the ER for IV fluids. He did well through the night and then started back up again this morning. We hope tomorrow is a better day for him as Cam and I are completely exhausted! I was in the urgent care center at 8am this morning. I have an Upper Respiratory Infection. I also lost my voice. When I was in the waiting area I started coughing. The nurse came and told me that I had to have a Swine Flu kit. I about died of embarrassment!! There I was sitting in the waiting room with a mask on. People were coming in and looking at me and nobody would sit by me:( I wasn't even there for flu symptoms! Oh well. I can laugh about it now. Wish I felt better as taking care of a sick kid is not easy when you are sick yourself. Here is sweet Colin yesterday taping a nap on the couch.
Kaitlyn is back to her self and has been very busy playing. I think they really miss not having each others company and someone to play with this last week. Kaitlyn walks around all day with her pink headset on. Maybe its because I always use my headset when I am on the phone. Here she is trying to entertain Colin by playing McDonald's with a Market Day flyer as her "menu". Never knew a Market Day flyer could be so fun:) Poor Colin was trying to rest with his bucket and towel just in case! Hoping tomorrow I can report back that it was a better day!!

She's Baaaack!

This afternoon seems to be the turning point for Kaitlyn...we hope! Things have been up and down the last few days. But today she is fever, vomit and diarrhea free so we hope its stays that way!!! Looks like her adorable smile and color are back too:)
Thanks everyone for all of the well wishes!
Knock on wood Colin is still ok and hopefully we escaped him getting it!

Kaitlyn Update

As most of you know Kaitlyn has been pretty sick! Kaitlyn and Colin were exposed to Rotavirus on Tuesday. So far, knock on wood, Colin has been ok. Lets hope he stays healthy as I dont think we could handle it if he got sick too! Thursday night around 10:45pm Kaitlyn started vomiting. So bad that by the morning she had thrown up 20 times and couldn't keep even the smallest amounts of water down. We were told to take her in to Highland Park Hospital Friday morning. She was even getting sick in the car on the way there. It was SO sad! We got there and she stopped vomiting. They were on the fence about giving iv fluids(which I wish they did and I should have pushed for) and gave her some Zofran for the nausea and a popsicle which she kept down. After a few hours observation and no more vomiting they sent us home. Well, I had a bad feeling about going home and sure enough we ended up right back in the ER a few hours later. She spiked a fever and Cam and I did not like how she was acting. Our pediatrician apologized and said that he was upset at how the ER handled things earlier and we needed to go back for IV fluids. Mind you its a 1 hour drive to the hospital. So we packed up AGAIN and headed to the ER. It broke our hearts to see her so sick. Kaitlyn's bubbly personality and adorable smile was not there so we knew she was pretty sick! Kaitlyn had her iv put it, she was a trooper, and they drew some blood. Her stools tested positive for rotavirus which was no surprise to us. They sent us home late that night. Yesterday she woke up with a little fever and was still the same. She perked up a little last night but then the diarrhea started to get really bad. Today she is refusing to drink fluids and eat. Only has had a few spoons of applesauce and some sips of water. Don't know what this means as we don't want her to end up back in the ER. She is napping now so hopefully when she wakes up we will have more success to get some fluids in her. We are desperate to get them in but her strong will is preventing us from doing it. Cam and I are completely exhausted but our number one priority is getting her better!! The 2nd time we were in the ER yesterday we had a wonderful doctor!! He made Kaitlyn 2 funny balloons out of gloves:)
Auntie Kelly came by and brought Kaitlyn flowers yesterday. Kaitlyn wanted to sleep with them next to her. They are now in her bedroom. Thanks Auntie Kelly and Grandma Young for coming to the rescue these last few days with watching Colin!! Colin has been so good and helpful with Kaitlyn. You can tell he is worried about her too! Its so sweet!

1st Swim Lesson

Today we had our first swim lesson. We are in the class with our friend Morgan. It was so much fun!! Here we are in the locker room at the health club waiting for class to start. I was so excited that one of the kids old swimsuits from last year fit them as I don't want their new ones to get ruined! Kaitlyn was excited to wear her Polo swim suit or "horsey suit" as she calls it:)
Miss Danny is so nice and was showing us how to put our face in the water. Great job Kaitlyn and Colin!!!

Kaitlyn, Colin and Morgan were swimming around on their noodles.

Time to practice floating on our backs.

Colin's turn to float on his back.

The last minute we had free time and ran around in the water sprinklers. We loved our first day of swim lessons and cant wait to go back!!!

Fun Day!

Today our friend Jakob and his mom Alivia came over! We just love little Jakob or peanut as Kaitlyn calls him:) He is 2 months old and so adorable!
Kaitlyn was asking to hold Jakob. What a good mommy she will be someday!

Colin was tickling his chin. Jakob opened one eye to see what in the world Colin was doing to him:)

Kisses for Jakob! Colin is such a baby lover..its adorable! He will be a good daddy someday! Luckily Colin has such a good role model as Cam is an amazing dad!

After they left we went outside to play. The kids were testing out their new helmets on their scooters.

Here is video of the kids scooting down the sidewalk. Thanks again Auntie Jill and Uncle Craig for these cool scooters...we love them!!!

The kids love their new big kid bikes!! Here is Kaitlyn going super fast down the sidewalk.

Here's video of Colin speeding down the sidewalk too. The kids were so wiped from today that they ate, took showers and were asleep at 6:45 tonight. Cam is at a school board meeting and I am enjoying some quiet time!!

PJ Party

Wednesday we went to a PJ Party at Auntie Kristina's house. Everyone was supposed to bring pj's and a book to donate to children in need. We were so excited to attend such a great event to help out others! Here we are in our PJ's ready to go have some fun! We did crafts when we were at the party. Kaitlyn was helping Makenna with her noodle necklace.

Colin was sporting his noodle necklace.

We decorated our own PJ's too!

Auntie Kristina is a good reader! We enjoyed listening to this story! Don't ask me why Colin chose the pink princess chair to sit in. It must be comfy and thats why:)

Kaitlyn and Madi waiting for some yummy treats. The kids all had a picnic on the floor.

Here are our PJ's and books we were donating!

Mommy and her kiddos!

Group picture of all of the kids!

When we got home Kaitlyn put her head down on the chair and said she was SO tired! It was too cute to not snap a picture:) Thanks for a fun morning Auntie Kristina, Madi and Makenna!

The Young Easter

Easter afternoon was spent at my parents house. I think some of us had way too much fun and the kids had a blast! Here they are with Grandma and Papa.
Our silly Uncle Jim. K & C saw this giant toothbrush at the store and thought Uncle Jim needed one. He is our dentist and they wanted him to put it in his office. He was teasing the kids and saying that you brush your hair with it:) They think he is silly!

Our cousins Nicole ("Coco") and Danielle ("DiDi") are so much fun! They love to play with us and we can wait for them to visit in a few weeks so we can play again!!

Oh my...that silly bunny showed up again! This time Nicole put the costume just as we were starting the egg scavenger hunt.

The kids paired up with an adult...Uncle Jim was Kaitlyn's partner so he could read the clues to her. Uncle Bill had spent hours putting together an egg scavenger hunt. Kaitlyn's eggs were pink, Colin's were green and Quintin's were blue. He typed messages in each one to tell us where to go in the house to find our next egg. He had us upstairs and downstairs a ton of times. We loved it!!

DiDi was Colin's partner. Ready, Set, Go!!!!

Quintin and Auntie Kelly looking for his blue eggs!

There's a pink one....too easy:)

Colin found a green one in the laundry room. He was actually opening the eggs and taking out the candy too. Stinker!
Colin stopping to smile while on to the next room to hunt for green eggs!
Kaitlyn wanted to hold the bunny's hand from room to room. So cute!

The hunt ended with the kids going to their room that they have at grandmas. There was a big surprise!!! Thanks Grandma, Papa, Aunt Shari, Uncle Jim, Auntie Kelly, Uncle Randy and Uncle Bill for all of the presents. Special thanks to Uncle Bill for the wonderfully planned egg hunt!! Its was so sweet of you to think of all of us kids! We look forward to many fun years ahead of the egg hunt tradition!

Kisses and hugs from Papa!!

Let the craziness begin!!! K & C changed clothes so they would be comfy. We all were dancing in the kitchen when Poker Face came on:)

Coco and Kaitlyn dancing away!!
Uncle Bill with Quintin. We had a great time everyone! Looking forward to the next family get together:) No more green apple martinis for some of us though....I wont mention any names:) And just for the record I only had water all night!!! No lie!

Easter at home

After a fun but tiring egg hunt Saturday the kids took great naps and then we went to church. We got home we dyed our eggs. Here is daddy helping the kids get their eggs into the dye. Now being a teacher you think I would know better to read the directions carefully and follow them. Isn't that what we always reinforced with our students was to read the directions!!! I read them and it said to use warm water and vinegar with every color tab EXCEPT the pink. Oops...guess this is why the pink tab didn't dissolve or work very well because I added vinegar and didn't follow the directions!

Colin was making a green egg.

Kaitlyn was making an orange one.

All done..look at our pretty eggs!

Easter morning we came down to find that the bunny did come. And he ate most of the carrots that we left out.
We enjoyed going through our baskets!!

Then we went in the bathroom to find new bikes for us. We laughed and thought it was SO funny that the bunny would leave us our bikes in the bathroom:)

Since we were up super early....he were are at 6:45am testing out our new bikes!

We look forward to riding them a lot this summer!!
