Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day!! Daddy had a nice, relaxing day today. He requested McDonald's for breakfast so here we are delivering it to him:) We also gave him some of our play McDonald's food and a play cookie too just in case he was still hungry. Kaitlyn LOVES high heels!!! She wanted to wear these to Aunt KK's today but we obviously said no!

We bought Quintin a ride on police car....the police officers who were there got a kick out of it!!
We went back to help deliver the gifts after the party...it took 4 car loads to get the stuff home. We stayed and hung out til 11:00pm so it was a late night for the kids...here Kaitlyn was resting after a fun but long day. Daddy and Uncle Randy were in rare form last night...we all had a great time!! Thanks Quintin for a great party!

Enjoying the Start of the Weekend!

We had a fun start to our weekend. Yesterday Mommy, Grandma Young and the two of us went for a ride to Sandwich, IL to pick up Grandmas Aunt Carmie. She was coming to visit grandma and papa for the weekend. We took this before our long car trip! Kaitlyn is quite the dancing queen. Here she is doing her Strawberry Shortcake Dance DVD. She does a pretty good job following the dance moves on her mat.
That night we went to Dairy Queen to celebrate our cousin Quintin's 1st Birthday.
Yummy!!
Here is mommy with Quintin enjoying some ice cream! Isnt he a cutie pie!!!
Quintin was too focused on swallowing his ice cream and waiting for the next spoonful to smile for the camera:) Today is his big birthday bash. Its a Cubs theme so we will have pics later of us in our Cubbies gear!
This morning we played with our new game that Santa brought us. Mommy just pulled it out for us to play. We were filling the butterflies in the elephants mouth.
Here come the butterflies shooting out of the elephants trunk.....they are hard to catch! We love our "EleFun" game!

Post Op Update

Kaitlyn had her 2nd post op appointment this afternoon and it went really well! Dr. Vicari is thrilled with how well she is healing as are we!!!! He removed the steri-strips on the area from where they took the skin and its almost healed and looks like a very thin line. It is barely noticeable! He said that any reconstructive surgery after this would be very minimal and we wont know for a year if we will need to do anything. He said she can go back to gymnastics class in a week and she can go swimming too. We need to load her with sunblock on that new skin all summer. Next week we will have to start massaging the new skin. We go back and see him in 6-8 weeks for another check up. So all in all she is doing awesome and as you can tell its been a pretty big deal for us to see this drastic change for Kaitlyn after this 3rd surgery!!! We had a cookie made for Dr. Vicari and here is Kaitlyn holding it to show everyone. It turned out so cute and Dr. Vicari thought it was pretty neat!!!
Here is Kaitlyn with Dr. Vicari today. He is such an amazing surgeon and we are so happy that we got in with him 2 1/2 years ago!! He is one of the top pediatric plastic surgeons around!
When we got home Kaitlyn and Colin were smiling for the camera!
Such a ham whenever I pull out my camera...maybe she is just used to it since I always have my camera with me and snapping pictures!!!
Colin helped Daddy mow tonight....he still loves playing with his John Deere mower Auntie Jill:)
Kaitlyn helped mommy water the flowers while Daddy and Colin mowed.

Fun Weekend!

We had a busy, but fun filled weekend! Mommy and Daddy were so excited to get to see their friends from college on Sunday for a BBQ at Lee and Chris' beautiful new home. We had so much fun!!! Here is mommy with her friends Lisa and Lee. We are so excited that Lee is having a baby in November!!!! Anthony was sitting with us at the kids table. Say cheese!
We had so much fun running around outside with Anthony!!! Here we were having a yelling contest to see who could scream the loudest:)
Lee and Chris have a great backyard with this super fun hill that we were running up and toppling down. Kaitlyn was breaking out her dance moves in this picture and bopping to the music!
Here they were acting like birds and "flying" down the hill!
Lisa and sweet little Angelina:)

Update on Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn is healing really well!!! We are thrilled!! We really wont know for a year or so if she needs more surgeries but for now we are just so happy that we are on the right path of recovery. She is bruised a little and is still swollen but the new skin looks great! She did bump it today and the stitches on her bottom lip starting bleeding....it was so sad because we knew it hurt pretty bad. Here she is sleeping so peacefully....I had just woke up from "our" nap and she looked so comfy and sweet sleeping. Hopefully we can take the arm stints off during naps and bedtime after this weekend and she will be allowed to sleep alone!
Her new sun hat came today in the mail so we went outside to test it out. Would you believe that the brim is not wide enough to keep the sun off of her lip so we are back on the hunt for a new one.....this one is pretty cute though:) She was checking out the newly planted flowers to see if they needed to be watered.
Grandma Young came over today to babysit so mommy could go run some errands and get a break. They used all of their legos to build a town. They were so proud of themselves!
Kaitlyn was showing off the new town that they built and making some changes.
When Daddy came home he read us some books while mommy was cooking dinner.

Visit with the plastic surgeon

We saw Kaitlyn's surgeon today at Glenbrook Hospital. He was very pleased with her recovery so far!!! He said that the skin that is dark in color will sloth off like a sunburn and pink skin will be underneath and it will eventually turn to a hopefully "normal" skin tone within a year. The dark skin should come off within this next week. Once that comes off we will be able to let her sleep alone...thankfully!!! Cam and I are not getting any sleep with her in bed with us. We have to keep her sleeping on her back so she doesnt rub the new skin on her pillow. And with her being a tummy sleeper we have to keep holding her arms all night so she doesnt flip over. Plus we have to nap with her as well. She is only wearing the arm stints at nap and bedtime. As for the steri-strips, we can take them off once they start to peel away or wait til they fall off. Their are stitches underneath. We are anxious to see what that area looks like from where they took the skin in front of her ear. She has been so good and doesnt really complain. The main concern right now is the sun. So I ordered a really good sun hat online at a store that will keep all of the sun rays out. She is very conscious of her "boo-boos" and tells you to be careful of them when you get her dressed or are wiping her face. We go back and see her surgeon a week from tomorrow for another post-op appt. We will let you know how things are going then!

Here are the kids today in their I Love Mommy and I Love Daddy shirts. The stairs are the only place they will sit still for a picture as you can tell.....we take most of our pics there:)

Kaitlyn's Recovery

Kaitlyn is recovering really well!! She has been such a trooper! Colin has been such a good brother to her too!! The new skin is now a very dark color which is great because we know their is blood flow to it. She is still taking pain meds every 3 hours but we hope to wean her off of them starting tomorrow once we see Dr. Vicari. We bought her a cute sun hat today for her to wear outside as she is not allowed to get any sun exposure on the new skin yet. She loves her new hat!! Colin wanted a Cubs hat so we found one for him too. Looks like it will be a hat wearing summer for us. This afternoon Grandma Young came over and planted flowers for us. They had a blast helping her dig in the mud...their new favorite thing to do:)
Here are some pics from our day!
