Kaitlyn was so unbelievably brave!!! Cam and I were SO proud of her!! We told her Wednesday night that she was having surgery and she took it well! Colin stayed at my parents house overnight. Cam and I took Kaitlyn out for ice cream and spent the rest of the night snuggling which she loved having all of the attention on her! We transferred her to the car yesterday morning and she didn't wake up and slept the whole way to Children's. She was in a great mood and did not seem nervous at all when she woke up. She was excited to open her Hello Kitty presents and I think thats all she was focused on:) When we were in the waiting area the anesthesiologist we know passed by. He yelled out hello and said lets get this thing over with!! I was SO happy to see him and immediately was at ease! He knows my family and has put Kaitlyn to sleep for all of her surgeries as well as my sister when she gave Billy her kidney. Theres never any guarantees that we will get him even if we request him. He is so amazing that he rearranged his morning and came to the Children's Memorial Outpatient center in Westchester just so he could be the one to put Kaitlyn to sleep. All of his surgeries were scheduled at the hospital downtown but he said Kaitlyn was a 2nd generation patient to him since he had always done her and did my sister too. Hes so wonderful! Kaitlyn went back to the OR pretty well. Jay(the anesthesiologist) carried her back and she did tear up and ask for me but then was ok. That was tough for Cam and I. Her surgery only lasted 30 min. The nurse came out to get us and she said she knew I was Stacey and she knew Cam too because Kaitlyn was talking about us. Kaitlyn was wide awake and sitting up being a chatterbox. How cute that the first thing she talked about was Madi and Makenna:) She told them her life story the nurses said. They were cracking up at her! We walked in recovery and she was sitting up and yelled to me "that was so fast mommy!". She looked great and to see her come out of anesthesia so wonderful was a shock to us. She is usually a mess! We saw in recovery for 30 min and they let us go home. Her lip looks awesome! Dr Vicari said it will get dark and bruised looking for the next week or 2. Then it will look as if she never had the surgery and he said we will be wondering if the surgery even worked. Then about 2-3 months from now thats when we will be able to see the results. We go back to see him in 5-6 weeks to check her progress. Right now we just have to keep applying Bacitracin about every 30 min to an hour to keep it moist. She had an injection in her arm to give her a boost of pain meds. So far no complaints of pain but she will need Motrin once it wears off. She will probably require a few more laser treatments and then dermabrasion as the final surgery down the road. So all in all it was the easiest surgery she has had by far!!! She even said it was fun:) How funny is that!! Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes!! We are glad it over and ready to start school on Tuesday!!! Heres some pics from our day today! I took a ton because this is a happy time for us as Kaitlyn's lip has healed and progressed so much over the last few years! It has come SO far and we know we are near the end of this difficult journey!! We are so luck to have such a talented surgeon and his staff is amazing!!

She was able to pick which princess hospital id bracelet she wanted. She choose Cinderella! She also was given princess stickers to decorate her "ballgown" she was wearing.

We played a few games of Bingo while we waited for her surgery to start. We had our own private room with a tv so Kaitlyn had cartoons on while we played Bingo...she thought she was pretty cool:)
Dr. Przybylo(her anesthesiologist). He is amazing!!!! He told Kaitlyn to move on over and he hopped right up next to her. This was literally right before he carried her into the OR for surgery.

On the way home it started to get darker which we knew would happen. The hospital staff gave her an adorable stuffed kitty for being so brave!!

The laser marks are starting to show more. But Cam and I expected much worse so we are thrilled with how it looks!
Last night Kaitlyn was complaining of pain so we gave her something to help with it. She slept great and her lip looks pretty much the same today. When she saw herself in the bathroom mirror yesterday she got a little upset and then starting giggling and said her lip has polka dots:) What a great attitude!! The kids are busy playing so things seems to be back to normal here:) I will post an update when we see her surgeon in about 6 weeks with where we go from here.
